Amideva Buddha Park is a lovely place where people can go to relax. It is a park dedicated to Buddha known for compassion and wisdom. Amideva Buddha Park is popular for its three giant golden statues of Buddha and a small but beautiful garden. It is located at the backside of Swayambhunath stupa, in front of the road to Ichangu. The Buddha statue is 67 feet tall built in 2003.
The Three Majestic Statues
Shakyamuni Buddha: At the heart of the park stands the 67-foot-tall statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, also called Siddhartha Gautama. He was born as a prince in a rich family, but he left his royal life to find the truth about suffering and how to end it. After many years of meditation and learning, he became enlightened, which means he understood the true nature of life. People then called him “Buddha,” which means “The Awakened One.” He taught others how to live a good life through kindness, understanding, and mindfulness. His teachings still help millions of people around the world today.
Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara): To the left of Shakyamuni Buddha is the 64-foot-tall statue of Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara. He is known as the Buddha of compassion and is believed to care deeply for all living beings. People believe he listens to the cries of those who are suffering and helps them with love and kindness. In many pictures and statues, Chenrezig has many arms, which show that he can help many people at the same time. He is also linked with the famous prayer “Om Mani Padme Hum,” which many Buddhists chant to feel peace and compassion. Chenrezig teaches us to be kind, caring, and loving to everyone.
Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava): To the right of Shakyamuni Buddha, also at 64 feet tall, is Guru Rinpoche, also known as Guru Padmasambhava. He is believed to have brought Buddhism to Tibet and helped it grow there. People see him as a powerful and wise master who could do amazing things because of his deep spiritual knowledge. His name means “Precious Guru,” and many Buddhists believe he was not an ordinary person but a divine being. He taught secret and powerful teachings called Vajrayana, which help people reach enlightenment faster. Guru Rinpoche is often shown wearing colorful clothes and holding special objects that show his power and wisdom. Many people pray to him for protection, guidance, and spiritual strength.
